Quotes From Thomas Jefferson Three

Do banking institutions have too much power today?

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered..'

Have a wonderful 4th of July celebrating Independence Day.

Snopes has quote listed as false. There are several versions, but they are all a misdirection of the truth. Given the current economic situation because taxpayer-funded government bailouts, it was only a matter of time until someone quoted a respected figure to say the economic mess was predictable and inevitable. And one could hardly find a more hallowed figure than Jefferson.
